Every year, Vesta hosts Plates for the Peak, an annual fundraiser to benefit Urban Peak. Owner Josh Wolkon chose to support Urban Peak because of its commitment to helping youth off the streets of the Mile High City. Urban Peak offers The Spot, a place where youth can congregate, learn skills, speak with counselors, and socialize with other teens who are on tough times. They offer a thrift store, which is hotly becoming one of Denver's most renowned. Urban Peak is a noble non-profit with a clear mission: to give youth the tools they need to find footing in this difficult world.
The Plates for the Peak gala is held at Vesta in October. Some years in the past have been challenging with sporting events, (Go Broncos!), in-climate weather, but has always been a great success. Our goal is to raise over $20,000 for Urban Peak to keep doing what they do best. To help support them, Vesta holds a silent auction that has featured charcuterie classes with our chef's, a chef prepared dinner at the winning bidder's home, skis, bicycles, wine, and more. There is also a wine grab with Vesta's beverage distributors generously donating some of their wares to the event. And of course, proceeds from each ticket sale go to support Denver's homeless youth through UP. Each ticket is valued at $85 each, and for as much food and beverage that you can consume, it is a small price for such a noble cause. This year, Chef Kayser has invited back former Vesta chefs Brandon Foster, Connor Gushen, Matt Selby, and more to prepare the passed hors d'oeurves.
And while we hope to see you at the 2018 P4TP event, we realize you may be reading this blog well after the event. Please remember that this event is held annually, so make sure to keep a sharp eye on those Mondays in October in 2019 and beyond. Here's to another great year, and to a great organization with a wonderful mission and commitment to the Mile High City.
